In the 22nd minute, Nicolas Romero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Yuri Loureiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisito Antequera in the 27th minute of play. Ronaldo Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Romero, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominik Piglowski in the 40th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Alfredinho Aparecido in the 42nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Montevideo's Fernandão Recife. Laerte Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. One of Atlético Minuano:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Montevideo:s goal. After taking down the ball on Montevideo's corner Luisito Antequera fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Yuri Loureiro quite easily take care of the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Olavo Matorin was the one to do the kick off.
