Ricardo Honrio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernabe Normando in the 8th minute of the match. The supporters of OLYMPIACOS FC booed when VERΛ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danilo Garikoitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the game, Ignacio Macias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. VERΛ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave OLYMPIACOS FC the free kick. Ovidio Oto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Gaztea in the 19th minute of play. Ricardo Honrio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elpidio Brais, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Ricardo Honrio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eusebio Cayo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Danilo Garikoitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidio Oto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 minutes, Angelo Llorian mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VERΛ and the OLYMPIACOS FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 41st minute, Angelo Llorian hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elpidio Brais hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Santos Lazcano made a kick off. OLYMPIACOS FC's Andres Mateo suffered a concussion after 54 minutes and had to leave the field. After 54 minutes of play VERΛ's Danilo Garikoitz was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 55th match minute, VERΛ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Garikoitz to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, OLYMPIACOS FC's Florencio Jacob got a free kick in the 60th minute. VERΛ were furious when Santos Eyague was red carded, 65 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 66 played minutes VERΛ got a freekick which was hit by Santos Eyague. Ricardo Honrio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eusebio Cayo in the 67th minute. After a defensive mix-up in VERΛ's zone, Bernabe Normando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Honrio came out of the goal and Bernabe Normando tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Denis Txomin struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Ovidio Oto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VERΛ. In the 80th minute of the match Haroldo Etxahun sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ricardo Honrio skillfully saved the ball. Bernabe Normando could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Ricardo Honrio made a huge save.
