Fernanco Peso might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ascencio Sotelo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fernanco Peso ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Spor Las Huevas's Ascencio Sotelo got control of the ball when Fernanco Peso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Spor Las Huevas's Ascencio Sotelo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Spor Las Huevas from getting a goal against them. Jon Iruegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maxin Ceberiche, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Sporting Cristal defense, Urtzi Zamorano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jon Iruegas. The Sporting Cristal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jon Iruegas should have stopped the shot. 19 minutes into the match, Sporting Cristal's Fernanco Peso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ascencio Sotelo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Urtzi Zamorano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jon Iruegas was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. After having played for 27 minutes, Fernanco Peso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Spor Las Huevas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Fernanco Peso scored to the left of an out of position Ascencio Sotelo, making the score, 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

In the 87thth minute of the game Ronaldão Nogueira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Spor Las Huevas's Ascencio Sotelo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jon Iruegas made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Lartaun Riera sent off a good shot on target. Ascencio Sotelo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldão Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Spor Las Huevas players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sporting Cristal.
