Sven-Edvin Jansson started the match with the kick off. 8 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Damaso Sotero came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Furia Calamar's Daniel Hanot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zico Zellier in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th match minute, GuateFortín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Máximo Perrone to maneuver through the defense. Hipolito Manni came free with the goalkeeper in the 13th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nery Pumpido could save by the left post. In the 14th minute Epifanio Gagriel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sven-Edvin Jansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Daniel Hanot having to make a save. Daniel Hanot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niklas Alströmer in the 17th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Sven-Edvin Jansson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Daniel Hanot was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Sven-Edvin Jansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Daniel Hanot having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Damaso Sotero kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nery Pumpido. That made the score 1-1 in the 26 minute of play. GuateFortín were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Furia Calamar's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Angel Alvarenga took the corner. GuateFortín's Angel Alvarenga was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Daniel Hanot in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 31st minute Zico Zellier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Hanot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jozef Barmoš got a throw-in 33 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Hipolito Manni. Furia Calamar's Daniel Hanot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zico Zellier in the 36th minute of play. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Epifanio Gagriel in the 38th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Sven-Edvin Jansson put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Daniel Hanot. GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Epifanio Gagriel in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niklas Alströmer in the 46th minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute Zico Zellier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Hanot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Damaso Sotero to strike the kick off in the second half. Daniel Hanot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thierry Henry, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Hanot was out of position in the 57 minute of play, and Zico Zellier capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zico Zellier really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. Zico Zellier could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Daniel Hanot made a huge save. 66 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Hipolito Manni came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gong Ning Hui in the 69th minute of play. Furia Calamar made a substitution. Didi Vargas replaced Damaso Sotero. GuateFortín's William Villanueva was substituted for Sven-Edvin Jansson. After 74 minutes Furia Calamar's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Angel Alvarenga who took care of the corner kick. Nery Pumpido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julián Quintero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Mario Gomez put it in 1-5 from a short distance just to the right of Daniel Hanot. After a defensive mix-up in GuateFortín's zone, Julián Quintero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nery Pumpido came out of the goal and Julián Quintero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 85 minutes into the match, Furia Calamar's goal looked a bit too open when Mario Gomez came free, but Daniel Hanot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tobias Leheren in the 88th minute of play. After 88 played minutes GuateFortín got a freekick which was hit by Pablo Mora. In the 89th minute of the match Gong Ning Hui shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nery Pumpido showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 93 minutes into the game, GuateFortín's Mario Gomez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Daniel Hanot made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Didi Vargas in the 96th minute of play. In the 99th minute, GuateFortín's Heriberto Correa seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Heriberto Correa the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of GuateFortín protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Heriberto Correa had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The supporters of Furia Calamar booed when GuateFortín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 99 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heriberto Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Baldomero Amato missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 101 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Nery Pumpido right hand side.
