The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Aaron Sandalio came free, but Alfredo Joey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Palermo's Alfredo Joey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Aznar in the 9th minute of play. After 12 minutes of play, Guansa's Anselmo Txilar made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alfredo Joey was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ceferino Quinteros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Esteban José Andrada made a huge save. 15 minutes into the match, Guansa's goalkeeper Esteban José Andrada had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ceferino Quinteros. If Aaron Sandalio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute of the match, Arnoldo Medina got a very nice opportunity to score, but Esteban José Andrada was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Santiago Mino in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Esteban José Andrada saved Guansa from getting behind. Alfredo Joey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anselmo Txilar in the 26th minute of the match. Arnoldo Medina was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anthony Bonelli in the 30th minute of play forced Guansa's goalkeeper Esteban José Andrada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Guansa booed when Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 40th minute of the match Palermo got a corner. Guansa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Anthony Bonelli ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Maximino Gonzalez almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Guansa's Esteban José Andrada did a great save. Esteban José Andrada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Mino in the 41st minute of play. Saul Felo hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Alfredo Joey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anselmo Txilar, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.
