Paulo Laurentzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Telmo Madureira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 4 minutes into the game, Bieito Villaurreta lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Telmo Madureira. Telmo Madureira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Valadares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 10th minute, Paulo Laurentzi fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After 14 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Zenon Zapolski. A collision led to Criciúma Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Luiz Valadares hit a great ball. In the 17th minute Humberto Paes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Antoniano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 18th play minutes Paulo Laurentzi shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Telmo Madureira and just under the crossbar into goal. 21 minutes into the match, Gaztea Regalado notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Telmo Madureira. Telmo Madureira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 27 played minutes E.C 2 Janeiro RS got a freekick which was hit by Albertinho Guedes. 30 minutes into the match, Paulo Laurentzi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Telmo Madureira, 4-0. Telmo Madureira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Valadares in the 32nd minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Criciúma Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Humberto Paes came free, but Evelio Antoniano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute, Luiz Valadares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Laurentzi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Telmo Madureira made a huge save. When Criciúma Esporte Clube's Gaztea Regalado in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Humberto Paes to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Bieito Villaurreta made a precise shot to the right of Telmo Madureira. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. The supporters of E.C 2 Janeiro RS booed when Criciúma Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaztea Regalado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Evelio Antoniano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Paes in the 60th minute of the match. Paulo Laurentzi scored 7-0 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Telmo Madureira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 71st minute Paulo Laurentzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telmo Madureira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute of the match Criciúma Esporte Clube got a corner. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gaztea Regalado ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Criciúma Esporte Clube's corner Gaztea Regalado fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Telmo Madureira quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaztea Regalado in the 76th minute of play forced E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goalkeeper Telmo Madureira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mehmet Emin Kamer struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Telmo Madureira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Criciúma Esporte Clube. Telmo Madureira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Laurentzi in the 83rd minute of the match. Luiz Valadares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Gaztea Regalado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Telmo Madureira was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. There was no doubt that Criciúma Esporte Clube were the better team. Criciúma Esporte Clube's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
