Evelio Antoniano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gafur Balkanlıoğlu in the 8th minute of the match. E.C. Água Santa's Fernandez Gøl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaztea Regalado in the 12th minute of play. In the 18th match minute, E.C. Água Santa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdomiro Rosado to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind E.C. Água Santa's goalkeeper Fernandez Gøl, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Casemiro in the 20th minute of play forced Criciúma Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Evelio Antoniano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Criciúma Esporte Clube's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. In the 42nd minute Luiz Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandez Gøl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gafur Balkanlıoğlu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evelio Antoniano having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gafur Balkanlıoğlu to make the kick off. The supporters of Criciúma Esporte Clube booed when E.C. Água Santa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gafur Balkanlıoğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Água Santa's Fernandez Gøl was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Criciúma Esporte Clube fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when Criciúma Esporte Clube's Gaztea Regalado looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. E.C. Água Santa made a substitution. Lenílson Bittencourt replaced Valdomiro Rosado. Santiago Naike lost his temper 85 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. E.C. Criciúma Esporte Clube's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
