Fausto da Rocha came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Cambridge Esporte Clube's Kléber Rodrigues. But to his dismay, Kléber Rodrigues quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 17th match minute, Cambridge Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dino de Salles to maneuver through the defense. Sérgio Trevisan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from August Wahlnäs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sérgio Trevisan made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Zhang Yin Si sent off a good shot on target. Jan Bykowski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Sérgio Trevisan made a huge save. 22 minutes into the match, Cambridge Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Sérgio Trevisan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jan Bykowski. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Bykowski in the 22nd minute of play forced Cambridge Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Sérgio Trevisan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sérgio Trevisan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from August Wahlnäs in the 27th minute of play. Joseba Roa hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Wanderson Oliveira hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Zé Roberto Vergílio lost his temper 38 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Cambridge Esporte Clube:s Sérgio Trevisan showed great skill when he stopped August Wahlnäs:s penalty. The crowd rose to their feet as AFC - Curitiba's August Wahlnäs slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sérgio Trevisan. That made the score 2-2 after 39 minutes of play. 46 minutes into the match, AFC - Curitiba's goal looked a bit too open when Kléber Rodrigues came free, but Fausto da Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sérgio Trevisan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zhang Yin Si in the 48th minute. 48 minutes into the game, AFC - Curitiba's Zhang Yin Si nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Sérgio Trevisan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romário Ortiz in the 80th minute of the match. In the 82nd minute, Lucjan Setara left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AFC - Curitiba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romário Ortiz during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 88 played minutes Cambridge Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Mangueira. In the 90th minute Joseba Roa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Trevisan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AFC - Curitiba were awarded a corner in the 101th minute after Cambridge Esporte Clube's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Silvio Asier took the corner. After a rather tough play, AFC - Curitiba's Matouš Carda got a free kick in the 101st minute. There was no doubt that AFC - Curitiba were the better team. AFC - Curitiba's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
