The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Aaron Euloxu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Flóki Cabezudo in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Higinio Sansone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute of the match Stellenbosch got a corner. Nina fc's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mao Zhen ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Stellenbosch's Chi-Chi Legay to fire away a dangerous shot which Higinio Sansone despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gerke Krupp might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Higinio Sansone. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerke Krupp ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 18th minute Gerke Krupp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higinio Sansone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Pelayo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubens Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Rubens Prata blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Pelayo having to make a save. Stellenbosch's Pedro Pelayo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubens Prata in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Stellenbosch's goal looked a bit too open when Rubens Prata came free, but Pedro Pelayo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Stellenbosch's Odysseas Katramados got a free kick in the 34th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Nina fc's goal looked a bit too open when Fidel Martxelin came free, but Higinio Sansone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Higinio Sansone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flóki Cabezudo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Reynaldo Oto made in the 46th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Flóki Cabezudo immediately put the ball in play. In the 47th minute Rubens Prata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Pelayo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Nina fc made a substitution. Fulgencio Romildo replaced Aldo Navarro. Nina fc's Saul Macerio was substituted for Rubens Prata. Pedro Pelayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Macerio in the 57th minute of play. Pedro Pelayo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fulgencio Romildo in the 60th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Osvaldo Bernat sped through Nina fc's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Higinio Sansone. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
