Luizão Ferraz kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Lenílson Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Samuca da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conrado Damião, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The supporters of AFC - Curitiba booed when Mosqueteiros 4EVER was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaltino Barreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the game, AFC - Curitiba's Hudson Pinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Samuca da Costa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 30 minutes into the match, AFC - Curitiba's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Furlan came free, but Arnaldo Lopes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st minute, Mosqueteiros 4EVER's Leonel Furlan dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Samuca da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenílson Santos in the 34th minute of play. AFC - Curitiba's Arnaldo Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save AFC - Curitiba from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 39 minutes, Arnaldo Lopes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Samuca da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás Donato, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Samuca da Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lenílson Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half AFC - Curitiba were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 53rd minute, Isaltino Barreto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. AFC - Curitiba's Luizão Ferraz shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 54th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Samuca da Costa but with some difficulty. Conrado Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Samuca da Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of AFC - Curitiba booed when Mosqueteiros 4EVER was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Novaes didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Queirós in the 67th minute of play forced AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Arnaldo Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AFC - Curitiba's Arnaldo Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oséas de Castro in the 75th minute of play. Luizão Ferraz charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Lenílson Santos's late challenge caught a Mosqueteiros 4EVER's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lenílson Santos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Arnaldo Lopes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, AFC - Curitiba's Tomás Donato got a free kick in the 89th minute. 92 minutes into the game, Alessandro Queirós cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Arnaldo Lopes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
