Telmo Madureira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juca Bala, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juca Bala in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Telmo Madureira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to E.C 2 Janeiro RS getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Tostão Nunes hit a great ball. In the 14th minute Juca Bala shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telmo Madureira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bandelocos's defense didn't have a chance, in the 17th minute, when Válter de Sousa scored to the left of an out of position Alberto Palmeira, making the score, 1-0. In the 20th match minute, Bandelocos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseu Guerra to maneuver through the defense. In the 22nd match minute, E.C 2 Janeiro RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henrique Koehler to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute of the match José Paulo Severo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Telmo Madureira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Bandelocos's Eliseu Guerra got a free kick in the 26th minute. Haroldo Sanches sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Telmo Madureira came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Bandelocos's Jorge Cabral. But to his dismay, Jorge Cabral quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Eliseu Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juca Bala stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Juca Bala fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Madureira having to interfere. The supporters of Bandelocos booed when E.C 2 Janeiro RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertinho Guedes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 58 minutes, Eliseu Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bandelocos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseu Guerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 59 minutes, Geraldo Eger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the E.C 2 Janeiro RS and the Bandelocos players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Eliseu Guerra fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bandelocos's protests and gave Eliseu Guerra a yellow card for diving instead. Eliseu Guerra kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Alberto Palmeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Válter de Sousa in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Tostão Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 75 minutes, Eliseu Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bandelocos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseu Guerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Bandelocos supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bandelocos would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
