The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Loramendi Cabarcos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hubert Wallmark in the 3rd minute of the match. Sandinense ADF were awarded a corner in the 4th minute after E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sílvio Luiz Tasso took the corner. Anísio Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Osvaldinho Queirós got free with Loramendi Cabarcos in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A sloppy throw-in by Betinho Figueiredo in the 12th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Lion Messi. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Bebeto Sarmento suffered a concussion after 14 minutes and had to leave the field. After 14 minutes, Juvenal da Rocha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sandinense ADF and the E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sandinense ADF's Juvenal da Rocha got a free kick in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the game, Osvaldinho Queirós recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Loramendi Cabarcos. Osvaldinho Queirós showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Osvaldinho Queirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute Hubert Wallmark shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loramendi Cabarcos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Loramendi Cabarcos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Osvaldinho Queirós in the 24th minute. In the 25th minute of the match Sandinense ADF got a corner. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sílvio Luiz Tasso ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 26 played minutes E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO got a freekick which was hit by Sandro de Queirós. 27 minutes into the match, Sandinense ADF's Sílvio Luiz Tasso broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Loramendi Cabarcos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO from getting a goal against them. The corner ended in Hubert Wallmark almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Loramendi Cabarcos did a great save. After 40th play minutes Hubert Wallmark shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Loramendi Cabarcos and just under the crossbar into goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Anísio Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's supporters rose to their feet, but Anísio Queirós was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Breno Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 47 minutes into the game, Hubert Wallmark cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Loramendi Cabarcos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

If Osvaldinho Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Loramendi Cabarcos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hubert Wallmark, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Juvenal da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Loramendi Cabarcos having to interfere. In the 61st minute, Hubert Wallmark left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sandinense ADF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Loramendi Cabarcos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Sílvio Luiz Tasso fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sandinense ADF's protests and gave Sílvio Luiz Tasso a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 played minutes Sandinense ADF got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio Luiz Tasso. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Loramendi Cabarcos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hubert Wallmark in the 68th minute of play. Loramendi Cabarcos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hubert Wallmark, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Loramendi Cabarcos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juvenal da Rocha in the 73rd minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, Hubert Wallmark had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Loramendi Cabarcos. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hubert Wallmark was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Hubert Wallmark might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Loramendi Cabarcos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hubert Wallmark ran back to his position shaking his head. Loramendi Cabarcos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Burak Özdoğan in the 81st minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goal looked a bit too open when Juvenal da Rocha came free, but Loramendi Cabarcos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner led to Sandinense ADF's Kaká Fenomeno getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaká Fenomeno in the 89th minute of play forced E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Loramendi Cabarcos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Loramendi Cabarcos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Murilo Pain, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There was no doubt that Sandinense ADF were the better team. Sandinense ADF's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
