An unexpected shot in the 14th minute by Zico Maravilha got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Sidnei Leão hit a great ball. 24 minutes into the match, Misericordia EC's Zico Maravilha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nelsinho Leite narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Pirani was the one to do the kick off. In the 64th minute, Faustão Terra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Misericordia EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. If Faustão Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aírton Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. João Pirani might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Leão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Pirani ran back to his position shaking his head. 80 minutes into the match, Zico Maravilha notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite. Nelsinho Leite was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Nelsinho Leite showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zico Maravilha, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. 90 minutes in the game, Gilmar Monteiro fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Paulo Leão having to interfere.
