An unexpectedly hard shot by Jakes Vila in the 12th minute of play forced Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper Pepe Toxeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pepe Toxeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julio Alacuart in the 19th minute. After some careless play in the ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO defense, Guillermo Marin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Remigio Valerón. The ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Remigio Valerón should have stopped the shot. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Pepe Toxeiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Real Club Celta de Vigo from getting a goal against them. Rubén Flores hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Remigio Valerón showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renato Tapia in the 36th minute of the match. Pepe Toxeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Favoretto in the 39th minute of play. Joel Valines could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Pepe Toxeiro made a huge save. After the first half Real Club Celta de Vigo were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Renato Tapia made the kick off in the second half. Pepe Toxeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Favoretto in the 51st minute of play. In the 52nd minute Julio Alacuart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepe Toxeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Pepe Toxeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jakes Vila in the 55th minute of play. After 57 minutes of play, Real Club Celta de Vigo's Renato Tapia made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Remigio Valerón was left in no man's land by his defense there!
