Real Club Celta de Vigo's Renato Tapia got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renato Tapia in the 15th minute of play forced ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Remigio Valerón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Renato Tapia put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Remigio Valerón. Remigio Valerón showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato Tapia, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Renato Tapia received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Remigio Valerón was left in no man's land by his defense there! The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Remigio Valerón showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Renato Tapia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Remigio Valerón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renato Tapia in the 62nd minute of play. Saverio Castelao hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. The supporters of Real Club Celta de Vigo booed when ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saverio Castelao didn't get a good kick on the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Renato Tapia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Remigio Valerón. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Renato Tapia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1.
