An unexpectedly hard shot by William Westelinx in the 5th minute of play forced Club Brugge's goalkeeper Stein Spoelberch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Club Brugge from getting a goal against them. Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Westelinx in the 13th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Club Brugge's goal looked a bit too open when William Westelinx came free, but Stein Spoelberch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stein Spoelberch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Westelinx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Stein Spoelberch managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when FC Ouagadougou National's William Westelinx fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Rene Vereijt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Şevket Çağa in the 26th minute of play. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Ouagadougou National's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hector Bellerin was slow to take the kick. During this time Club Brugge's players had a chance to rest. A well done corner resulted in Brent Nelleboedske drilling the ball in to score 1-1 behind FC Ouagadougou National's goalkeeper. Stein Spoelberch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Westelinx in the 32nd minute of play. After having played for 36 minutes, William Westelinx managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Ouagadougou National's supporters crossed their fingers, but William Westelinx was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Faudel Dagorne hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Şevket Çağa made a kick off. Stein Spoelberch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Westelinx in the 56th minute of the match. Gunter Mesmaekers kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Club Brugge made a substitution. King Eken replaced Şevket Çağa. After 59 played minutes Club Brugge got a freekick which was hit by Gunter Mesmaekers. After 61 minutes Club Brugge's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Baba R. Hansen who took care of the corner kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when King Eken got free with Rene Vereijt in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of FC Ouagadougou National booed when Club Brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gert-Jan Schroons didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stein Spoelberch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baba R. Hansen in the 70th minute of the match. Stein Spoelberch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from William Westelinx, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. William Westelinx scored 2-1 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stein Spoelberch, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 80th minute William Westelinx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stein Spoelberch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. William Westelinx took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stein Spoelberch. Stein Spoelberch dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. William Westelinx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stein Spoelberch read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Menelaos Markos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Club Brugge's goal looked a bit too open when William Westelinx came free, but Stein Spoelberch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Ouagadougou National's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
