The crowd rose to their feet as Cícero da Costa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving José Maria Goiano. That made the score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Poetass FC's Jon-Egil Schjelderup nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Melquiades Amor made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After 50 played minutes, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Rene Sergi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper José Maria Goiano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line.
