Flying Dutch's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mauro Romero ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dr Lecter SC's Omid Kaulbach was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Luís Paulo Romero in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Luís Paulo Romero successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dr Lecter SC's attentive Tihomir Donevski managed to snatch the ball when Tiago Correia made a throw-in in the 18th minute of the game. Dr Lecter SC's Omid Kaulbach got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luís Paulo Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Corneliu Dridu in the 24th minute of the match. Flying Dutch's Luís Paulo Romero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Corneliu Dridu in the 27th minute of play. It was a well-played corner which Válbson Batista managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Luís Paulo Romero was a little too slow when Corneliu Dridu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. The score was now 1-0. 35 minutes into the match, Flying Dutch's goal looked a bit too open when Corneliu Dridu came free, but Luís Paulo Romero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Corneliu Dridu might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Paulo Romero. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Corneliu Dridu ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 41st minute Corneliu Dridu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Paulo Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Corneliu Dridu might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Paulo Romero. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Corneliu Dridu ran back to his position shaking his head. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
