After 13 minutes of play, Palestra do Interior's 韩默克 made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. André Luiz de Barros was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Romário Barbosa got free with André Luiz de Barros in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the match, A.D Leônico's goal looked a bit too open when Romário Barbosa came free, but André Luiz de Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Palestra do Interior fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Allan Varela should have stopped the shot. 29 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Nando Cearense came free, but Allan Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Allan Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vatan Kambay in the 31st minute of play. André Luiz de Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 韩默克, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 39 minutes into the game, 韩默克 cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. André Luiz de Barros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A.D Leônico's André Luiz de Barros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save A.D Leônico from getting a goal against them. With his leg André Luiz de Barros managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Palestra do Interior's Romário Barbosa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 45th minute, 韩默克 left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palestra do Interior fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andriy Shevchenko was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andriy Shevchenko in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Allan Varela saved Palestra do Interior from getting behind. A.D Leônico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vitório Lago was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-2. Palestra do Interior's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
