Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 13 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Ivașcu came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfredo Martins who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 15thth minute tested the skills of Luís Paulo Romero when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dorian Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 18th minute, Basilio Lain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If German Cano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Alfredo Martins kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Luís Paulo Romero. That made the score 1-0 in the 22 minute of play. Luís Paulo Romero made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Dorian Moraes sent off a good shot on target. Dida Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cido de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Martins in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Paulo Romero saved Flying Dutch from getting behind. Luís Paulo Romero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 32nd minute of play. Flying Dutch's Luís Paulo Romero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Flying Dutch from getting a goal against them. In the 35th minute Marquês de Herval were awarded a corner. Moussa Kabre went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Flying Dutch's goalie and right to Jon Grøneng. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Flying Dutch's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal.
