Gervásio Sousa was out of position in the 19 minute of play, and Jiang De capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jiang De really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 25th minute of the match Gremio Viana got a corner. Atlético Micaelense's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Augustin Panaiteanu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Samuel Fiúza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klaus Van Mellart in the 31st minute of the match. The supporters of Atlético Micaelense booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Påk didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 42nd minute Jiang De shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gervásio Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd match minute, Gremio Viana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severino Torcato to maneuver through the defense. Jiang De blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gervásio Sousa having to make a save. After 62 played minutes, Atlético Micaelense's Vítor Águas shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Atlético Micaelense reached it. 68 minutes into the game, Palmiro Bettencourt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Samuel Fiúza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 72 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goal looked a bit too open when Klaus Van Mellart came free, but Samuel Fiúza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gervásio Sousa came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Gremio Viana's Carlos Luna. But to his dismay, Carlos Luna quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Gremio Viana's Antonio Calisto was substituted for Tony Påk. Atlético Micaelense's Geraldo Madureira was substituted for Vítor Resende. Gremio Viana's Mohamed Ali Bomba was substituted for Severino Torcato. Klaus Van Mellart could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Samuel Fiúza made a huge save. After 81 minutes, Fryderyk Tyskie mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Micaelense and the Gremio Viana players grew even worse after the yellow card.
