Benedito Melo came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Braga's Zigmantas Gimbutas. But to his dismay, Zigmantas Gimbutas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Laçın Cumayev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Calado in the 12th minute of play. GD JULIO DINIS's Benedito Melo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save GD JULIO DINIS from getting a goal against them. After 16 minutes GD JULIO DINIS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was André Jordão who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in André Jordão almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but GD JULIO DINIS's Benedito Melo did a great save. 20 minutes into the game, GD JULIO DINIS's Gualter Amaro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Laçın Cumayev made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When SC Braga's Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benedito Melo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's Benjamin de Lara got a free kick in the 39th minute. Zigmantas Gimbutas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

With an all-out effort, GD JULIO DINIS's Laçın Cumayev threw himself towards the right post 51 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rui Monsanto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Benedito Melo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Zigmantas Gimbutas notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of GD JULIO DINIS's Benedito Melo. Benedito Melo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. SC Braga's Laçın Cumayev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Leiria in the 60th minute of play. Benedito Melo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 75th minute of the match. If Benjamin de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Braga made a substitution. Antonio Cieri replaced Benjamin de Lara. Stig-Åke Mattsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benedito Melo.
