The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jiang De in the 3rd minute of play forced Atlético Micaelense's goalkeeper Gervásio Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 4th minute, Palmiro Bettencourt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tony Påk struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Gervásio Sousa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gremio Viana. Atlético Micaelense's attentive Fabrício Coelho managed to snatch the ball when Augustin Panaiteanu made a throw-in in the 18th minute of the game. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leal Cabral in the 20th minute of play. After 22 minutes of play, Gremio Viana's Jiang De made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gervásio Sousa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gervásio Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jiang De, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Gremio Viana's Samuel Fiúza got control of the ball when Lu Chen tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lu Chen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Samuel Fiúza when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 30th minute Jiang De shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gervásio Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute Gremio Viana were awarded a corner. Augustin Panaiteanu went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Gremio Viana's Tony Påk getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lu Chen in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Samuel Fiúza saved Gremio Viana from getting behind. Samuel Fiúza made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Lu Chen sent off a good shot on target. Augustin Panaiteanu made in the 42nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Jiang De immediately put the ball in play. In the 44th minute, Lu Chen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Lu Chen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fryderyk Tyskie kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Ke Zhi Jian struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Gervásio Sousa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gremio Viana. Gremio Viana's Carlos Luna was substituted for Jiang De. 64 minutes into the game, Carlos Luna recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gervásio Sousa. Carlos Luna showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. In the 67th minute Lu Chen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lu Chen scored 1-2 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Samuel Fiúza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Carlos Luna took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Gervásio Sousa to make any attempt to save it. Atlético Micaelense's 杨国洲 was substituted for Vítor Resende. Gremio Viana made a substitution. Mohamed Ali Bomba replaced Severino Torcato. Gremio Viana's Samuel Fiúza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lu Chen in the 76th minute of play. Amado Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's Carlos Luna sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gervásio Sousa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gremio Viana's attentive Higino Queirós managed to snatch the ball when Fryderyk Tyskie made a throw-in in the 89th minute of the game. A sloppy throw-in by Fabrício Coelho in the 90th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Gremio Viana's Amado Melo. The Gremio Viana supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gremio Viana would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
