Moise Vlădean in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Farid Mondragón, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Melvin Ruffin hit a great ball. Roy Huston scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ysmael Marfil, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When C. A. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind DINAMO's goalkeeper Ysmael Marfil, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. C. A. Independiente's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eric Snowden in the 49th minute. C. A. Independiente's Eric Snowden was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ysmael Marfil in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

53 minutes into the match, DINAMO's goal looked a bit too open when Roy Huston came free, but Ysmael Marfil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, DINAMO's Ysmael Marfil got control of the ball when Roy Huston tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ysmael Marfil made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roy Huston in the 58th minute. Ysmael Marfil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Huston in the 59th minute of the match. Roy Huston recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roy Huston could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Ysmael Marfil made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roy Huston in the 74th minute of play forced DINAMO's goalkeeper Ysmael Marfil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. DINAMO's Ysmael Marfil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 78th minute of play. Sidney Forbes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Moise Vlădean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Farid Mondragón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Farid Mondragón stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Claudio Cina's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. 87 minutes into the match, DINAMO's goalkeeper Ysmael Marfil had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredo Felder. In the 88th minute, Alfredo Felder ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ysmael Marfil was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Alfredo Felder who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Ysmael Marfil when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alfredo Felders short, quick shot in the 91stth minute got Ysmael Marfil to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a rather tough play, DINAMO's Traian Stoiculescu got a free kick in the 93rd minute. When the match had gone on for 97 minutes, Ryszard Borcz put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Farid Mondragón. When the match was over C. A. Independiente could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than DINAMO throughout the match.
