Augusto Cordario's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ariel Ponc firmly grabbed it by the left post. Velez Sarsfield were awarded a corner in the 10th minute after Villa Mitre City's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ignacio Berenguer took the corner. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and James Madison made a kick off. A collision led to Villa Mitre City getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Denis Ibañez hit a great ball. In the 60th match minute, Velez Sarsfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Javier Pinola to maneuver through the defense. Velez Sarsfield's attentive Ando Averin managed to snatch the ball when Denis Ibañez made a throw-in in the 62nd minute of the game. 66 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when James Madison came free, but Teodosio Sergi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Denis Ibañez made in the 95th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Mauricio Macías. Ariel Ponc didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Augusto Cordario went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Velez Sarsfield's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
