Roy Makaay started the match with the kick off. Roy Makaay took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lütfi Kutlubay. Lütfi Kutlubay dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Guo Ao received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Lütfi Kutlubay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nenko Reza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thibault Delanoë in the 32nd minute of play. The supporters of Villaverde Celeste Clube booed when Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joélson Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roy Makaay could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Lütfi Kutlubay made a huge save. Cospe-Fogo-Pelasventa's Lütfi Kutlubay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roy Makaay in the 45th minute of play. A collision led to Villaverde Celeste Clube getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Dino Manfredi hit a great ball. Nenko Reza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joélson Massa, who was totally free with the ball in the 49th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chiquinho Pombal was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes in the game Joélson Massa did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Zygmunt Rzegotka. An unexpectedly hard shot by Burak Onal in the 56th minute of play forced Villaverde Celeste Clube's goalkeeper Nenko Reza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Igor Santos was substituted for Armandinho Xavier. In the 64th minute, Eduardo Angulo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Villaverde Celeste Clube's attentive William Lucas managed to snatch the ball when Joélson Massa made a throw-in in the 67th minute of the game.
