Mugur Chiriac received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético Atlanta's zone, Gabriele Batistuta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pankracy Glogowski came out of the goal and Gabriele Batistuta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Camilo Salvidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mugur Chiriac, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Atlético Atlanta's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Lucas Martínez Quarta was slow to take the kick. During this time Menchu FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Menchu FC's Caetano Linhares getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal.
