After a defensive mix-up in MIT's zone, Pan Wei Quan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Calistrat Madgearu came out of the goal and Pan Wei Quan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Calistrat Madgearu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sven-Olof Vestlund's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Calistrat Madgearu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sven-Olof Vestlund showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 18 minute of play. Joar Scheie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiberiu Caramarin in the 22nd minute of the match. After 23 played minutes MIT got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Vâtcă. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sven-Olof Vestlund stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. CAN ERZURUM's Sven-Olof Vestlund got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joar Scheie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiberiu Caramarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ivan Vâtcă made in the 59th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by CAN ERZURUM's Javier Zanetti. MIT's Calistrat Madgearu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Olof Vestlund in the 62nd minute of play. A collision led to MIT getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Romeo Gherghescu hit a great ball. MIT's David Tunander was substituted for Dorin Banu. CAN ERZURUM made a substitution. After 73 played minutes MIT got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Gherghescu. 80 minutes into the match, CAN ERZURUM's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Caramarin came free, but Joar Scheie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joar Scheie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiberiu Caramarin in the 80th minute of the match. MIT made a substitution. Bogdan Bucataru replaced Alex Balotă. CAN ERZURUM's Cássio Corrêa quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ivan Vâtcă, made in the 86th minute of the game. 87 minutes into the game, CAN ERZURUM's Sven-Olof Vestlund nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Calistrat Madgearu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Nicodim Orășan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Joar Scheie when he managed to save the team from getting behind. MIT's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
