Garanhão do SUL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgar Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Yuri Amaral hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cassiano Telinhos got free with Durval Soares in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Durval Soares made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Edgar Costa sent off a good shot on target. Piao FC's Durval Soares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Piao FC from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edgar Costa made a kick off. In the 50th match minute, Piao FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mariano Vital to maneuver through the defense. Virgílio Teves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Salvador Lousada hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Piao FC's zone, Albano Leizarraga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Durval Soares came out of the goal and Albano Leizarraga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Albano Leizarraga in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durval Soares saved Piao FC from getting behind. When Albano Leizarraga came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Garanhão do SUL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albano Leizarraga couldn't finish the play. In the 78th minute, André Roriz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Durval Soares was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Gaspar Vilas Boas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 91stth minute, Ignatius Casasola skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
