C.'s Murilo Prestes got a free kick in the 5th minute. SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Peixoto in the 8th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murilo Prestes in the 9th minute of play forced Karaboudjan's goalkeeper Marcelinho Abraão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelinho Abraão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Prestes in the 11th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, SORRISO E. C.'s Silvério Abraão got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Karaboudjan's goalkeeper Marcelinho Abraão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marcelinho Abraão was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Murilo Prestes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 17 minute of play. Ryszard Iwanowski was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Murilo Prestes got free with Marcelinho Abraão in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcelinho Abraão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Prestes in the 37th minute of the match. Murilo Prestes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelinho Abraão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SORRISO E. C.'s Ryszard Iwanowski got a free kick in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernandinho Albuquerque was the one to do the kick off. Luizão Peixoto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Karaboudjan booed when SORRISO E. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doni Velloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Karaboudjan's Luizão Peixoto got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save SORRISO E. C. from getting a goal against them. A throw-in in the 75th minute of the game was made by Felippe Monteiro with Luizão Peixoto as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Murilo Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caco Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aírton Oliveira in the 79th minute. 80 minutes into the game, Kléberson Gomes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marcelinho Abraão was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Murilo Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. SORRISO E. C. had won after a very even match.
