Luiz Paulo Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Magno Garcia in the 20th minute of play. If Tadeu Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After taking down the ball on Tormenta EC's corner Celso de Queirós fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Luiz Paulo Mazza quite easily take care of the ball. Wellington Phoenix's Luis Mikolas got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Tormenta EC booed when Wellington Phoenix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dadá do Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Augusto Demaria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 詹俊 á Bø, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Wellington Phoenix's Luis Mikolas pulled a muscle in his back after 40 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 40 minutes into the game, Xalvador Bahamondes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tormenta EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wellington Phoenix the free kick. Wellington Phoenix's Murillo Rodrigues was substituted for Luis Mikolas. Luiz Paulo Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 詹俊 á Bø in the 50th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Augusto Demaria saved Tormenta EC from getting behind. Luiz Paulo Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernard Dyczkowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Magno Garcia in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luiz Paulo Mazza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 57th match minute, Wellington Phoenix was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silas Barros to maneuver through the defense. Augusto Demaria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadeu Zonta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Tormenta EC's Beto França got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute Bernard Dyczkowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Paulo Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when 詹俊 á Bø got free with Augusto Demaria in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beto França in the 79th minute of play forced Wellington Phoenix's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 詹俊 á Bø could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Augusto Demaria made a huge save.
