All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Edgardo Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Edgardo Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot. New England Minas's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgardo Silva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeremy Nicholas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niva Bellido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niva Bellido in the 65th minute of play forced New England Minas's goalkeeper Jeremy Nicholas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th minute Niva Bellido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremy Nicholas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romando Futebol Clube's Juninho Paulista quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Niva Bellido could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Jeremy Nicholas made a huge save. Zachery Church made in the 91st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Romando Futebol Clube's Juninho Paulista. Rubén-Osvaldo Cousillas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tio Lio in the 96th minute of play.
