The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes AF CERRADO got a freekick which was hit by Igor Oliveira. Renatinho Leal hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Sandrinho Sabóia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jael Jardel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Passos in the 27th minute of play forced AF CERRADO's goalkeeper Sandrinho Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32ndth minute of the game Jael Jardel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AF CERRADO's Sandrinho Sabóia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sandrinho Sabóia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claudinho Toscano in the 34th minute. In the 36th minute Kaká Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil Guerra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th minute, Renatinho Leal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. João Adolfo de Andrade hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kaká Goiano in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gil Guerra saved Grêmio 20 Julho from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Kaká Goiano put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gil Guerra. If Marcelo Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jael Jardel to strike the kick off in the second half. Gil Guerra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaká Goiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Tomás Schmidt hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Gil Guerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaká Goiano in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jael Jardel in the 67th minute of play forced AF CERRADO's goalkeeper Sandrinho Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Grêmio 20 Julho getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Jacinto Amaral hit a great ball. After 70 played minutes AF CERRADO got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Cordeiro. If Jael Jardel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gualter Albuquerque kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, Grêmio 20 Julho's goal looked a bit too open when Kaká Goiano came free, but Gil Guerra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AF CERRADO's Sandrinho Sabóia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jael Jardel in the 80th minute of play. Sandrinho Sabóia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Passos in the 84th minute of play. In the 88th minute of the match, Jefferson Aparecido got a very nice opportunity to score, but Gil Guerra was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jael Jardel in the 90th minute of play forced AF CERRADO's goalkeeper Sandrinho Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 91 played minutes Grêmio 20 Julho got a freekick which was hit by Jael Jardel. After 94 played minutes Grêmio 20 Julho got a freekick which was hit by Ivo Brito. AF CERRADO's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
