The audience thought a goal was coming when Iulian Pietreanu got free with Rouven Nussli in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Champions Iasi's goalkeeper Rouven Nussli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Waldemar Gierlach in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Baldomiro Txindoki saved FC UNIREA Alba Iulia from getting behind. 25 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Zăreanu came free, but Baldomiro Txindoki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Petrică Cândreanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's supporters rose to their feet, but Petrică Cândreanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rouven Nussli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 34 minutes, Nicolae Ungureanu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC UNIREA Alba Iulia and the Champions Iasi players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rouven Nussli came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's Iulian Pietreanu. But to his dismay, Iulian Pietreanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Waldemar Gierlach stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Waldemar Gierlach's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Baldomiro Txindoki was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stefan Pieters was slow to take the kick. During this time Champions Iasi's players had a chance to rest. If Waldemar Gierlach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. Rouven Nussli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC UNIREA Alba Iulia. 68 minutes into the game, Stefan Pieters was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Champions Iasi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC UNIREA Alba Iulia the free kick. After a rather tough play, Champions Iasi's Stefan Pieters got a free kick in the 68th minute. In the 74th match minute, Champions Iasi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harri Takavirta to maneuver through the defense. 76 minutes into the match, Champions Iasi's goal looked a bit too open when Iulian Pietreanu came free, but Rouven Nussli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Iulian Pietreanu put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rouven Nussli. Rouven Nussli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilson Arósio in the 83rd minute of play. 84 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goal looked a bit too open when Waldemar Gierlach came free, but Baldomiro Txindoki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Champions Iasi's Waldemar Gierlach nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Baldomiro Txindoki made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Waldemar Gierlach in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Baldomiro Txindoki, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Rouven Nussli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iulian Pietreanu in the 94th minute of the match. When Waldemar Gierlach came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Champions Iasi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Waldemar Gierlach couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Champions Iasi eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
