Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sergiu Coșeriu in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Panait Hațegan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 23rd minute, Dorel Nedelciu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Rio fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 27 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goal looked a bit too open when Wesley Sneijder came free, but Aurelian Coporan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Panait Hațegan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergiu Coșeriu in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goalkeeper Aurelian Coporan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adrian Mutu. Panait Hațegan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorel Nedelciu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the match, Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Radu Păvăloae came free, but Panait Hațegan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aurelian Coporan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mădălin Cangeopol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute Mădălin Cangeopol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelian Coporan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute, Alex Nicolae hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sergiu Coșeriu was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Codrin Ionete hit a great ball. In the 57th minute, Radu Păvăloae got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Panait Hațegan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Tractorul Satulung -MM- from getting a goal against them. In the 63rd minute of the match, Dorel Nedelciu got a very nice opportunity to score, but Panait Hațegan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Dorel Nedelciu came free with the goalkeeper in the 63rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Panait Hațegan could save by the left post. When Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Adrian Mutu in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mădălin Cangeopol in the 70th minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Aurelian Coporan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goal looked a bit too open when Mădălin Cangeopol came free, but Aurelian Coporan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radu Păvăloae in the 80th minute of play forced Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goalkeeper Panait Hațegan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wesley Sneijder during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Wesley Sneijder hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. 94 minutes into the match, Adrian Mutu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aurelian Coporan. Academia Rio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrian Mutu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
