With a couple of smart ball manuevers Simão de Lara in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nestor Quintal saved Independente FC from getting behind. In the 22nd minute José Vítor Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilson Paranaense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jailson dos Santos hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Independente FC's Ezequiel Barral slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nilson Paranaense. That made the score 1-1 after 24 minutes of play. In the 27thth minute of the game Simão de Lara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independente FC's Nestor Quintal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bola Forte kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the game, Walmir Berger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independente FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mamutes EC the free kick. Nestor Quintal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bola Forte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When José Vítor Rodrigues fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Independente FC's protests and gave José Vítor Rodrigues a yellow card for diving instead. In the 41st minute, José Vítor Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Simão de Lara in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nestor Quintal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bola Forte stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nestor Quintal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simão de Lara in the 51st minute of the match. Simão de Lara's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 53rdth minute, Nestor Quintal skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Walmyr Hoffmann might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nestor Quintal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. When Walmyr Hoffmann came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Mamutes EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmyr Hoffmann couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Ezequiel Barral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nilson Paranaense was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mamutes EC's goalkeeper Nilson Paranaense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Valdomiro Marquez got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 77th minute, Mamutes EC's Bola Forte ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nestor Quintal. Nestor Quintal yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Nilson Paranaense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Carlos de Azevedo in the 84th minute of the match. Nilson Paranaense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Vítor Rodrigues in the 90th minute of play. Bola Forte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Quintal having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mamutes EC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
