The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Joel Bezerra fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Goblins F.C.'s protests and gave Joel Bezerra a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Goblins F.C. getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Joel Bezerra hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Vascogoianiense FC's zone, Zé Pedro Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olavo Fonseca came out of the goal and Zé Pedro Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 11 minutes into the game, Téo Marques was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vascogoianiense FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Goblins F.C. the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ademar Montenegro during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Goblins F.C. booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olavo Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Pedro Mendes in the 17th minute of play. In the 25th minute Júnior Camargo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute, Cléberson Vides hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Waldemar Ramos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Olavo Fonseca. Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, Zé Pedro Mendes notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Vascogoianiense FC's Olavo Fonseca. Olavo Fonseca was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 37th minute, Bruninho Campidelis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 39th minute, Cléberson Vides hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 45 minutes, Anderson Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anderson Valladares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vascogoianiense FC's Olavo Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruninho Campidelis in the 47th minute of play.

Waldir Faria hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After 54 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Júnior Camargo. After 55 minutes, Josué Pena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vascogoianiense FC and the Goblins F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Goblins F.C. booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Josué Pena didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Pedro Mendes in the 56th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Olavo Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 60 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Moisés Amaral. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Zé Pedro Mendes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goblins F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Pedro Mendes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olavo Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 63 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Josué Pena. Olavo Fonseca was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Joel Bezerra. Zé Pedro Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olavo Fonseca having to interfere. In the 73rd minute Zé Pedro Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Zé Pedro Mendes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Vascogoianiense FC's Olavo Fonseca. Olavo Fonseca was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Pedro Mendes got free with Olavo Fonseca in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vascogoianiense FC's Olavo Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruninho Campidelis in the 92nd minute of play. When the match was over Goblins F.C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Vascogoianiense FC throughout the match.
