After 2 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Luisão de Medeiros. In the 15th minute Ronaldo Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Mota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomé Mota showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Tomé Mota showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pau Lin-Carlos in the 26th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, Tiago Cosme fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante, passed just outside the right post. Rafael Cruz hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Enrique Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ronaldo Pirani to make the kick off. Tomé Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pau Lin-Carlos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ernesto Velloso hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Ronaldo Pirani made a great header on Palestra do Interior's corner, it was just that Agua Santa's Tomé Mota managed to reach the ball for a save. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Abreu in the 64th minute of play. The Palestra do Interior players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Agua Santa from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
