The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Arnaldo Branco's late challenge caught a Red John's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arnaldo Branco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 14th match minute, AF CERRADO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnaldo Branco to maneuver through the defense. After 15 played minutes Red John got a freekick which was hit by Inácio de Lima. 17 minutes into the match, AF CERRADO's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luís Lima came free, but Gil Seco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The AF CERRADO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gil Seco should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in AF CERRADO's zone, Pedro Luís Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gil Seco came out of the goal and Pedro Luís Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gil Velloso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Paulo Zonta got free with Gil Seco in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gil Seco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dorival Viana in the 58th minute. Red John made a substitution. Christian Monteiro replaced Juvenal de Queiroz. Gil Seco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luís Lima in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Pedro Luís Lima left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Red John fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Red John's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
