Caxias do Sul's Gabriel França got a free kick in the 5th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Eger in the 8th minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Eger came free, but Gianluigi Donnarumma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Castanheiro SC's Serafim Cearense got a free kick in the 17th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelo Eger in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gianluigi Donnarumma saved S.E.R. Caxias do Sul from getting behind. Doni Seco made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when João Carlos Gaspar sent off a good shot on target. Castanheiro SC's Doni Seco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 30th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Carlos Gaspar got free with Doni Seco in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gianluigi Donnarumma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Eger in the 37th minute of play. Ivo Mello's late challenge caught a Castanheiro SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivo Mello helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Ivo Mello got a free kick in the 40th minute. 45 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Júnior Alagoano came free, but Gianluigi Donnarumma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Doni Seco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S.E.R. Caxias do Sul.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcelo Eger made a kick off. S.E.R. Gianluigi Donnarumma made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Marcelo Eger sent off a good shot on target. 0-2 became the score in the 80th minute when Mauro Sarmento elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 85 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Iuri Paranaense. After a defensive mix-up in S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's zone, Marcelo Eger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gianluigi Donnarumma came out of the goal and Marcelo Eger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronaldo Pinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gianluigi Donnarumma having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Mauro Sarmento reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The goal made the score 0-3. Castanheiro SC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
