Serginho Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute of the match, Lamine Xande tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Serginho Taffarel saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a little luck, MINEIROS's Serginho Taffarel got control of the ball when Válbson Schmidt tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Maicon Quintal in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emerson Chaves saved New Joinville - FSCMZ from getting behind. A collision led to MINEIROS getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Christian Fernandes hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lamine Xande stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Emerson Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldinho Braga in the 59th minute of the match. Serginho Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Viana in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Xande Musiala got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. New Joinville - FSCMZ made a substitution. Robinho de Souza replaced Xande Musiala. Serginho Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Válbson Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Naldo Baiano couldn't finish the play. 81 minutes into the game, Lamine Xande cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Serginho Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Christian Fernandes hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, New Joinville - FSCMZ's Válbson Schmidt tried to score from far away in the 87th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 90th minute MINEIROS were awarded a corner. Luiz Fábio Schmidt went to the cornerflag to take it. Emerson Chaves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nico de Mendonça's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. 93 minutes into the game, New Joinville - FSCMZ's Robinho de Souza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Serginho Taffarel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. New Joinville - FSCMZ had won after a very even match.
