The shot was stopped by Guilherme Mendonça but with some difficulty. In the 19th minute Pedro Luiz Trevisan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doriva Simão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basílio Moura kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, FC St. Pauli's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Duarte came free, but Guilherme Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Classe A Futebol Clube's Doriva Simão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Toscano in the 35th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Pedro Luiz Trevisan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Doriva Simão. Classe A Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pedro Luiz Trevisan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 42 played minutes FC St. Pauli got a freekick which was hit by Basílio Moura. In the 45th match minute, FC St. Pauli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basílio Moura to maneuver through the defense. Dário Schmidt struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Doriva Simão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC St. Pauli. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Luiz Trevisan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 66th minute, Carlinhos Faria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arí Britto came free with the goalkeeper in the 67th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Doriva Simão could save by the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Váldson Mazza in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guilherme Mendonça prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 71 minutes into the game, Dito Dionísio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC St. Pauli's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Classe A Futebol Clube the free kick. Dito Dionísio kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. After 76 played minutes FC St. Pauli got a freekick which was hit by Edmílson Toscano. Doriva Simão didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 78th minute, which inside left pole to 1-2. After taking down the ball on FC St. Pauli's corner Edmílson Toscano fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Doriva Simão quite easily take care of the ball. When Davi Pena came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Classe A Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Davi Pena couldn't finish the play. If Basílio Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes into the game, Leandro Barros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
