The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute Oswaldo Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Douglas Viana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SORRISO E. C.'s Vítor Sousa shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 9th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Will Muralhas but with some difficulty. Douglas Viana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswaldo Godoi in the 11th minute of the match. Douglas Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oswaldo Godoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Oswaldo Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, SE Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Mendonça came free, but Will Muralhas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute of the match Vítor Sousa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Will Muralhas skillfully saved the ball. Ian Cerezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Douglas Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Christiano Baiano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Douglas Viana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by SORRISO E. C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alfredo Vieira was slow to take the kick. During this time SE Palmeiras's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on SE Palmeiras's corner Alfredo Vieira fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Douglas Viana quite easily take care of the ball. In the 33rd minute Oswaldo Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Douglas Viana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Douglas Viana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Mendonça got free with Will Muralhas in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Douglas Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abelardo Medeiros in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abelardo Medeiros to make the kick off. After 60 played minutes SE Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Baiano. In the 61st minute of the match Vítor Sousa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Will Muralhas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Oswaldo Godoi hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Natanael Paraense kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Abelardo Medeiros's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Douglas Viana was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. Roberto Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alberto Mendonça recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oswaldo Godoi during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 88 minutes, Alberto Mendonça mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SORRISO E. C. and the SE Palmeiras players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of SE Palmeiras booed when SORRISO E. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oswaldo Godoi hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. SORRISO E. C. were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
