After 6 played minutes, FC St. Pauli's Edmílson Toscano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Naldo Oliveira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC St. Pauli reached it. Michel Barral charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Michel Barral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 7 minutes into the match, Barrenta SC's goalkeeper Naldo Oliveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Luiz Trevisan. Naldo Oliveira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Luiz Trevisan in the 8th minute. After 9 played minutes FC St. Pauli got a freekick which was hit by Dário Schmidt. 12 minutes into the match, Dário Schmidt dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Naldo Oliveira, 1-0. Dário Schmidt received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Naldo Oliveira came out and tried to block the shot, but Dário Schmidt slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 17th minute. If Edmílson Toscano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 21 played minutes Barrenta SC got a freekick which was hit by Elói de Medeiros. Arí Britto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of FC St. Pauli booed when Barrenta SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murilo Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC St. Pauli's Pedro Luiz Trevisan was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 28th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. With a little luck, Barrenta SC's Naldo Oliveira got control of the ball when Pedro Luiz Trevisan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pedro Luiz Trevisan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the game, FC St. Pauli's Pedro Luiz Trevisan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Naldo Oliveira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Naldo Oliveira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Luiz Trevisan in the 45th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Dário Schmidt hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, FC St. Pauli's Dário Schmidt got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Barrenta SC's zone, Edmílson Toscano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Naldo Oliveira came out of the goal and Edmílson Toscano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Basílio Moura recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to FC St. Pauli getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Dito Dionísio hit a great ball. Valdir Rosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Guilherme Mendonça made a huge save. Naldo Oliveira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Luiz Trevisan's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. The audience was convinced that Oséias Sergipano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Naldo Oliveira was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. 73 minutes into the match, Barrenta SC's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luiz Trevisan came free, but Naldo Oliveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michel Barral kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 76th minute, Pedro Luiz Trevisan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Barrenta SC's Naldo Oliveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Toscano in the 78th minute of play. In the 83rd match minute, FC St. Pauli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson Toscano to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Edmílson Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC St. Pauli's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmílson Toscano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Naldo Oliveira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87th minute Pedro Luiz Trevisan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Michel Barral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Naldo Oliveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luiz Trevisan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michel Barral got his second yellow card in the match during the 93rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Barrenta SC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Michel Barral hit a great ball. FC St. Pauli walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
