Humberto Xavier didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulo Renato Souza went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Frank Senna charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frank Senna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 13 played minutes Brasilino got a freekick which was hit by Frank Senna. Humberto Xavier made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Dalmo Rocha sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Brasilino defense, Paulo Renato Souza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Humberto Xavier. The Brasilino fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Humberto Xavier should have stopped the shot. In the 19th minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Dalmo Rocha dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. After 21 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Juvenal Novaes. The supporters of Brasilino booed when Nova Iguaçu MZFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalmo Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frank Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Mauro de Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Nova Iguaçu MZFC's zone, Aírton Nóbrega stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mauro de Salles came out of the goal and Aírton Nóbrega tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilson Vidal got free with Humberto Xavier in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Humberto Xavier was a little too slow when Anselmo Batista got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 4-0. Humberto Xavier made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Luizinho Neves sent off a good shot on target. Humberto Xavier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Dalmo Rocha made the kick off in the second half. Telmo Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 54 played minutes Brasilino got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Eduardo Maranhense. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Zé Carlos Cordeiro was substituted for Anselmo Batista. In the 59th minute, Murilo Pena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Wilson Vidal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Humberto Xavier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. 73 minutes into the game, Juninho Rosa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the match, Paulo Renato Souza notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Brasilino's Humberto Xavier. Humberto Xavier was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 92nd minute, Dalmo Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
