Teodoro Peio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronaldo Cristi in the 30th minute. After a rather tough play, Atlético Nacional's Carlos Alberto Azevedo got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Atlético Nacional's Nemesio Damario got a free kick in the 46th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
