Calistrat Madgearu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guido Vissenaeken went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind MIT's goalkeeper Calistrat Madgearu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Calistrat Madgearu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guido Vissenaeken, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 28th minute of the game. One of Brugge United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of MIT:s goal. In the 33rd minute Guido Vissenaeken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calistrat Madgearu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th minute Tiberiu Caramarin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Baia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Caramarin came free, but Vítor Baia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! 44 minutes into the match, MIT's goal looked a bit too open when Guido Vissenaeken came free, but Calistrat Madgearu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guido Vissenaeken was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiberiu Caramarin got free with Vítor Baia in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Calistrat Madgearu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurențiu Roşculeţ, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Jean-Louis Rijniers kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute, Jean-Louis Rijniers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brugge United's Vítor Baia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Tunander in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guido Vissenaeken in the 79th minute of play forced MIT's goalkeeper Calistrat Madgearu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiberiu Caramarin in the 82nd minute of play forced Brugge United's goalkeeper Vítor Baia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
