If Jurek Ohrem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jurek Ohrem's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edwin van der Sar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute SV Bad Harzburg were awarded a corner. Éthan Pichard went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Laulaja in the 29th minute of play forced SV Bad Harzburg's goalkeeper Jacek Matuch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Éthan Pichard managed to get in a good position for a shot. SV Bad Harzburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Éthan Pichard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
