The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. FC Nordsjælland's Andreas Hansen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paul Romeo in the 6th minute of play. Andreas Hansen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Di Kun, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. A collision led to Botev Plovdiv 1912 getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Dominguez Codony hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the game, Stefan Ludwiczak was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Botev Plovdiv 1912's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Nordsjælland the free kick. In the 12th minute, Stefan Ludwiczak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Christian Bale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yulian Kichukov in the 14th minute of the match. After 15 minutes Botev Plovdiv 1912's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Yulian Kichukov who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on FC Nordsjælland's corner Mads Hansen fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Christian Bale quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andreas Schjelderup got free with Christian Bale in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ognyan Filipov in the 28th minute of play forced FC Nordsjælland's goalkeeper Andreas Hansen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 31 minutes into the game, Dominguez Codony was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mads Hansen kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Andreas Hansen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paul Romeo in the 43rd minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Ognyan Filipov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Dimitar Berbatov came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the FC Nordsjælland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dimitar Berbatov couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Botev Plovdiv 1912's zone, Dimitar Berbatov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christian Bale came out of the goal and Dimitar Berbatov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC Nordsjælland's Benjamin Nygren was substituted for Sindre Walle. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benjamin Nygren to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Kajetan Daszkowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andreas Hansen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, FC Nordsjælland's Dimitar Berbatov got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Di Kun took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andreas Hansen. Andreas Hansen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Jeppe Tverskov hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. The long shot by Billy Borre in the 61st minute really tested Andreas Hansen's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. With an all-out effort, Botev Plovdiv 1912's Andreas Hansen threw himself towards the right post 63 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kajetan Daszkowski, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Christian Bale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamin Nygren in the 65th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Paul Romeo took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Andreas Hansen to make any attempt to save it. Botev Plovdiv 1912 made a substitution. Moises Blasi replaced Paul Romeo. In the 70th match minute, FC Nordsjælland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andreas Schjelderup to maneuver through the defense. Billy Borre got in the 71st minute a good position and tried a long shot which to a great surprise passed a very astonished Andreas Hansen. This was a shot which ended in a score of 1-4. Christian Bale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dimitar Berbatov, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Yulian Kichukov took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 78th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Christian Bale. Botev Plovdiv 1912's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. FC Nordsjælland's Andreas Hansen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save FC Nordsjælland from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in FC Nordsjælland's zone, Moises Blasi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andreas Hansen came out of the goal and Moises Blasi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Kajetan Daszkowski came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Botev Plovdiv 1912 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kajetan Daszkowski couldn't finish the play. Christian Bale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yulian Kichukov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kajetan Daszkowski in the 90th minute of play forced FC Nordsjælland's goalkeeper Andreas Hansen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Di Kun managed to get in a good position for a shot. Botev Plovdiv 1912's supporters rose to their feet, but Di Kun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andreas Hansen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Botev Plovdiv 1912 played a much better game than FC Nordsjælland and deserved their victory. The FC Nordsjælland players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
