Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ulizes Sola got the match started through his kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Zarando Eguizabal came free, but Aguinaga Nebot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Willy Reynolds blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nacho González having to make a save. Nacho González showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willy Reynolds, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Willy Reynolds in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nacho González prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ulizes Sola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aguinaga Nebot having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damian Maftei during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 12th minute, Damian Maftei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Juan-Pablo Leyarte got a free kick in the 14th minute. Astillero del Guayas's Nacho González proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Astillero del Guayas from getting a goal against them. 24 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas S.C.'s Damian Maftei sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nacho González narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Esmeraldas S.C.'s Nacho González threw himself towards the right post 25 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Willy Reynolds, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Willy Reynolds was the one to do the kick off. Nacho González took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Willy Reynolds, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Simon Caicedo was substituted for Pinto Cubria. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Daniel Castillo was substituted for Martinez Cines. The supporters of Esmeraldas S.C. booed when Astillero del Guayas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Alvarado didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Willy Reynolds's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nacho González was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Astillero del Guayas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damian Maftei was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0.
